Story & Atmosphere
Ryan's Irish Pub Inc, nestled in the heart of New Orleans at 241 Decatur St, captures the true spirit of an authentic Irish pub blended with the vibrant energy of the city. This lively spot is a haven for both locals and travelers seeking a warm, welcoming atmosphere paired with expertly crafted cocktails and a well-curated beer selection. Although Ryan’s does not serve its own food, the staff goes above and beyond to enhance your experience by recommending nearby hidden gems for casual, affordable dining—especially seafood, as recommended by their knowledgeable bartender Carly.
What truly sets Ryan’s apart is its exceptional team behind the bar. From Shea to Carly, Carolyn, Cherise, Rachel, and Victoria, each bartender combines professionalism, local insight, and genuine friendliness to create an environment where everyone feels at home. Whether you're winding down after travel or gearing up to watch an NFL game on one of their many widescreens, the energy here is electric yet relaxed, making it a go-to destination in the French Quarter.
One standout aspect is the seamless balance between efficiency and warmth. The bartenders manage a bustling crowd with impressive skill, ensuring prompt service without losing the personal touch. The cocktails are top shelf, carefully mixed and thoughtfully presented, while the beer selection impresses both casual drinkers and connoisseurs with variety and quality. Patrons consistently praise the staff’s ability to share stories, guide visitors through the city’s food and nightlife scene, and make every visit memorable.
Although Ryan’s is not a traditional food pub, the experience here is enriched by its connection to the surrounding culinary culture. When Carly recommended oysters and even delivered them personally to patrons, it showcased the unique, community-driven vibe that defines Ryan’s Irish Pub. It's not just a place to drink; it’s a social hub where new friendships are forged over great drinks and shared local knowledge.
In essence, Ryan's Irish Pub stands as a vibrant node within New Orleans’ legendary hospitality landscape. It blends the charm of a classic Irish pub with the warmth and eclectic spirit of the city—resulting in a destination that feels both familiar and refreshingly unique. Whether you’re a solo traveler or part of a lively group, this pub invites you to slow down, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy a drink crafted with care and camaraderie.
“ The bartender Carly has extensive knowledge of the local food and venues in the area. Highly recommend talking to her for direction. She recommended some great places for casual dining and reasonable prices wanted some seafood. The oysters for meds were awesome and they walked them over and delivered to us kudos to Carly. She’s the best ”
“ Our first place after getting off the plane and Shea was the best tour guide we could have asked for. From dive bars to food she will get you a list . ”
“ I was in New Orleans for a few days on a solo trip and on my first day the weather was (as a Scotland-dweller) incredibly warm so I felt the need to dip into a pub earlier than I'd initially planned for a beer. After a quick scan of surrounding places with good reviews on Google I plumped for Ryan's and I'm glad I did. I got a very friendly welcome from Shea behind the bar and a couple of locals too. A lady who I'd obviously not met until 30 seconds prior offered me some of the home-made babka she'd brought in for the staff and I chatted with some other locals as well as my accent drew some interest about my travels. I dropped into a bunch of other places during my stay but this first impression really stuck with me and Ryan's was one of my go-tos while I was in the French Quarter. very friendly and attentive service from all the staff but particularly Shea who was on bar every day I went in and on my second visit welcomed me like I was a regular myself. I ended up speaking to a lot of different people over my few visits there, just chatting generally and getting local recommendations as Ryan's has clearly cultivated a super-welcoming atmosphere among locals and tourists alike. Top this off with a great selection of local craft beer and you've got somewhere that if or hopefully when I go back to New Orleans I'd definitely make a point of going back to. ”
“ We stopped in multiple times on our trip from New york and everyone behind the bar is amazing but we absolutely LOVE Shea. The BEST bartender we had in all of New Orleans! A great, chill place with ALL of the nfl games which makes for a great time! Will be back anytime we are in town. ”
“ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ryan’s Irish Pub is always a great time, but what really sets it apart is Carolyn, Cherise, Carly, Rachel, Shea and Victoria behind the bar! They are absolute gems - super accommodating, professional, and always on top of things. They run a tight bar with incredible efficiency while still making sure everyone feels welcomed and happy. The cocktails are top shelf, and the service matches. Can’t wait to come back for more good vibes, great drinks, and Ryan’s Irish Pub’s outstanding hospitality! ”
